Have you ever noticed that some of the food with the sexiest packaging have some of the worst ingredients? Some of our favorite ice creams and cookies are filled with toxic artificial flavoring and refined sugars. It’s the same thing with certain men. A man can appear to be a good guy on the outside but he’s really just a dusty. Or he can be ridiculously fine but an F-boy on the inside. What if men came with nutrition labels so you can really see what you’re about to get yourself into? These labels would reveal the true character of your potential mate not just the heart eyed traits that their representative provides.
A lot of people, not just men, will send in their representative during the dating process. Their representative will appear to have all the healthy ingredients but when you strip off the packaging, you’ll realize that you’re entertaining the equivalent of a processed tv dinner. They’ll do things like strategically place copies of the The Wait by Devon Franklin and Megan Good or Relationship Goals by Pastor Michael Todd in their house when you come to visit, so you’ll think they are actually interested in finding true love. But if you looked through their text messages or internet search history, you’d quickly realize they never read anything in those books. Similar to their physical appearance, the books were just for decoration. Think about it. How many times have you saw a man that looked wonderfully delicious on the outside but when you became emotionally involved you realized he was just like your favorite fast food chain; tasty but lacking nutritional value.
Sadly, many of us have dated men like the one described on the nutrition label below:

How many times has a man said that he wasn’t looking for anything serious and we went along with it knowing that it was unacceptable, but we thought that we could change his mind? Or how many times has a dude ghosted us and we grabbed our Pick Me shovels and dug him up from the grave? Our comfort foods and comfort zones have so many things in common. They are temporarily good to us but not good for us in the long run. Comfort foods with all their toxic ingredients are just like the ex that we run back to when we get lonely. He hasn’t changed sis. The reasons you left are still there. It’s all fruits and veggie energy in the beginning, but as soon as their representative begins to get comfortable, the situationship begins to get stale. In the wise words of Maya Angelou, “When someone shows you who they are believe them the first time.” Be careful what you allow in your gut ladies, I’m talking about both food and men!
